1. Johnston MCNAIRN was born¹ about 1811 in Ireland. He died in 1853/1861.

From viewing the 1851 census for Mathilda Township, Dundas County, Ontario, Canada - I found a Johnston and Margaret McNeir - and their kids listed as McNeirn - here is my transcription.

Catherine McNeirn, Born Ireland, English church age 8
Mary J. McNeirn Born Upper Canada, English church age 6
Margaret McNeirn Born Upper Canada, English church age 4
James McNeirn Born Upper Canada, English church age 2

By 1861 Margaret had another child and was listed as a widow therefore I presume Johnston died sometime between the birth of the last child and 1861. Also, Margaret had moved to Iroquois, Dundas County Here is my transcription of the 1861 census. Also note the surname spelling change.

Other notes about this census - Humphrey - listed in the 1851 is not here - and ages are a bit different for the kids - also, there is an Anne in the 1861 who isn't in the 1851. It would appear that the children aged  7-8 years instead of 10.

 

Johnston married Margaret ² . Margaret was born^3,4 in 1816 in Ireland. She died⁵ in 1917. She was buried in Iroquois, Dundas County, Ontario, Canada.

They had the following children:

2 M i. Humphrey MCNAIRN was born⁶ about 1841 in Ireland. He died⁷ on 20 Nov 1883 in Iroquois, Dundas County, Ontario, Canada.

3 F ii. Catherine MCNAIRN was born^8,9 in 1843 in Ireland. She died^10,11 on 19 Feb 1917 in Cardinal, Edwardsburgh Township, Grenville County, Ontario, Canada.

The 1881 Canadian Census indicates Catherine's birthdate as 1849 - and in 1881 she was a servant for a couple named McGregor.

BIRTH: Lyn had given me year of birth as 1847 - but the 1851 census records would suggest a bit earlier as now entered - 1843__Death Index - McNairn, Catherine,Cardinal 19 Feb 1917 - # 018537 -17

4 F iii. Mary Jane MCNAIRN ¹² was born¹³ about 1845 in Upper Canada.

5 F iv. Margaret MCNAIRN was born¹⁴ about 1847 in Upper Canada.

I thought Margaret might have died by the 1861 census as she is not listed - however there is a girl named Anne listed - on the 1861 - but not on the 1851 - and similar concept for age. So perhaps Margaret is Margaret Anne or Anne Margaret or something.

+ 6 M v. James MCNAIRN was born on 2 Mar 1853. He died in 1915.

7 M vi. Johnson MCNAIRN ¹⁵ was born^16,17 in 1853 in Upper Canada. He died¹⁸ on 28 May 1876 in Iroquois, Dundas County, Ontario, Canada.

May have married - McNairn, Johnson, Cardinal, 12 May 1885 # 006519-85 (From Ontario Civil Reg Marriage index) - Unless he died at Cardinal - earlier - (from Death Index) McNairn, Johnson, Male, Iroquois, 28 May 1876, # 013277 - 76

 

Second Generation

6. James MCNAIRN (Johnston) was born^19,20,21,22 on 2 Mar 1853 in Upper Canada. He died^23,24 in 1915. He was buried in Iroquois, Dundas County, Ontario, Canada.

James married Mary WORTHINGTON . Mary was born^25,26 on 11 Jun 1853. She died^27,28 in 1910.

According the the 1901 census - Mary was born June 11, 1853, Previously Lyn had said 1856 from notes she had.

James and Mary had the following children:

8 M i. John MCNAIRN died²⁹ in 1871.

Found a Johnson - McNairn - died May 28, 1876 on Ontario Civil reg - #013277-76 maybe this is the same person - ????? though Lyn's data suggests 1871 for death.  That death reg - may also have been an uncle.

+ 9 M ii. James Humphrey MCNAIRN was born on 3 Mar 1872. He died on 29 Sep 1927.

10 F iii. Margaret MCNAIRN "Maud" was born³⁰ in 1877. She died³¹ in 1946.

+ 11 F iv. Mabel MCNAIRN was born on 30 Nov 1886. She died in 1939.

12 F v. Edith MCNAIRN "Babe" was born^32,33 on 30 Apr 1894. She died³⁴ in 1973. She was buried³⁵ in St John's United Church / Riverside, Cardinal Edwardsburgh Twp, Grenville County, Ontario, Canada.

Lyn had previously said 1891 - however the census is very clear.

Edith married Harper BASS . Harper died³⁶ in 1955. He was buried³⁷ in St John's United Church / Riverside, Cardinal Edwardsburgh Twp, Grenville County, Ontario, Canada.

Third Generation

9. James Humphrey MCNAIRN (James, Johnston) was born^38,39,40 on 3 Mar 1872 in Mathilda Twp, Dundas County, Ontario, Canada. He was christened⁴¹ on 12 Mar 1873 in Mathilda Twp, Dundas County, Ontario, Canada. He died^42,43,44 on 29 Sep 1927 in Iroquois, Dundas County, Ontario, Canada.

James married Lillian GILLIARD . Lillian was born⁴⁵ in 1879. She died⁴⁶ in 1947.

They had the following children:

+ 13 M i. George James MCNAIRN was born on 12 Dec 1898. He died in 1977.

+ 14 M ii. Norman Cecil MCNAIRN was born on 26 Mar 1901. He died in 1941.

11. Mabel MCNAIRN (James, Johnston) was born^47,48 on 30 Nov 1886. She died⁴⁹ in 1939.

Lyn had previously told me 1886 the census has full birthdate indicated.  Check Name too - Mabel - Jennie Mabel?? - Jennie Mabel is on the Marriage index for Ontario Civil Reg. 

Mabel married⁵⁰ Dufferin DAVIDSON on 12 Dec 1906 in Iroquois, Dundas County, Ontario, Canada. Dufferin was born⁵¹ in 1876. He died⁵² in 1946.

They had the following children:

15 F i. Marion V. DAVIDSON was born⁵³ in 1909. She died⁵⁴ in 1964.

Marion married Robert J. LEGAULT . Robert died⁵⁵ in 1965.

16 M ii. Rex DAVIDSON was buried⁵⁶ in Iroquois, Dundas County, Ontario, Canada.

 

Fourth Generation

13. George James MCNAIRN ⁵⁷ (James Humphrey, James, Johnston) was born^58,59,60 on 12 Dec 1898 in Iroquois, Dundas County, Ontario, Canada. He died⁶¹ in 1977. .

George and Oriette had the following children:

George married⁶⁷ (2) Odette ⁶⁶ in 1939.

14. Norman Cecil MCNAIRN (James Humphrey, James, Johnston) was born^68,69 on 26 Mar 1901. He died⁷⁰ in 1941.

Norman married Hazel POTTER . Hazel was born⁷¹ in 1910. She died⁷² in 1980.

They had the following children:

+ 19 M i. James Edward MCNAIRN was born in 1936.

+ 20 F ii. Shirley Lillian MCNAIRN was born in 1934. She died in 1989.

James married Living KNICKLE . Muriel was born⁸⁰ in 1937.

They had the following children:

She married Living Hackett ⁸² . The marriage ended in divorce.

20. Shirley Lillian MCNAIRN (Norman Cecil, James Humphrey, James, Johnston) was born⁸³ in 1934. She died⁸⁴ in 1989.

Shirley married Donald SHERBONEAU . Donald was born⁸⁵ in 1932.

They had the following children:

She married (1) Living GALIPEAULT ⁸⁷ . The marriage ended in divorce.

She married (2) Living PEARSON ⁸⁸ . The marriage ended in divorce.

She married⁹¹ (1) Living KEEL ⁹⁰ in 1975. The marriage ended in divorce.

They had the following children:

She married⁹⁴ (2) Living STOEBER ⁹³ in 1980. The marriage ended in divorce.

29 M ii. Living Son STOEBER was born⁹⁵ in 1981.

She married⁹⁶ (3) Living MORASH in 1999. He was born⁹⁷ in 1967.

27. Living Son SHERBONEAU "Buckie" (Shirley Lillian MCNAIRN, Norman Cecil, James Humphrey, James, Johnston) was born⁹⁸ in 1956.

He married Living HAMILTON . She was born⁹⁹ in 1955.

They had the following children:

30 M i. Living Son SHERBONEAU was born¹⁰⁰ in 1978.

31 M ii. Living Son SHERBONEAU was born¹⁰¹ in 1980.
